Why Functional (Holistic) Medicine
Dr. Sterling decided to pursue functional medicine when he found out he could help out his own family and friends with their own health issues using natural methods such as lifestyle changes, exercise, nutrition, stress management, supplements, etc. Functional medicine uses a holistic approach (approaching the body as an integrated system) to treating disease by addressing the root causes, in contrast to conventional medicine that often only treats the symptoms of disease and is focused on drugs and surgery. Functional Medicine is a very safe form of medicine that utilizes things such as getting the right natural whole foods in your diet, exercise, lifestyle changes (proper sleep hygiene), and temporary diet adjustments. There is a growing body of evidence showing the impact of things such as nutrition and exercise on heatlh and wellbeing. Please see research articles below
